The ge water heater was installed in october of 2007. It is model number pg40t09avh00. The gas supply to the pilot assembly is controlled by this valve. I am having the same problem with my brand new ge water heater.

If your gas water heater doesn t stay lit you may have a defective control thermostat. The pilot lits fine but when i stitch it to on the burner comes on for 30seconds and dies. I am unsatisfied with this ge water heater and want it replaced with a quality product. It was manufactured in may of 2007.

I have a ge water heater that is almost 2yrs old. The gas pilot will not stay lit. It seems like there is no air. I get the pilot to light once every 5 minutes or so but after holding the red button for a minute i turn the temp dial from the vacation setting to the warm setting the burner lights up for a few seconds then goes out.
